Tips for energy efficiency and reducing consumption
By acting sensibly towards limited resources such as electricity, gas and water, and with small investments, it is possible to achieve significant savings in energy and fuel consumption. Please find below our suggestions on how you can save energy and money in your household, and perhaps even get a better energy class in case of energy certification.
Statistically, the largest energy losses are thermal energy losses. Replacing your PVC joinery and repairing old ones with sealants will reduce thermal energy losses, but also the amount of noise coming from outside.
Analyses have shown that reducing the room temperature by just 1°C can save up around 5% annually. Reduce heating at night and when you're not at home reduce the temperature to 15/16 °C.
Blinds and shutters can play a significant role in reducing heat loss both in summer and winter. Closed blinds reduce losses by about 10% in winter, while in summer they block the heat and save on air conditioning.
Never keep the refrigerator door open for too long, as the temperature equalizes with the room, and do not place it near a window or in direct sunlight.
Replace regular light bulbs with “energy-saving” ones, which can save up to 80% in electricity consumption. Using LED light bulbs can save up to 95%.
Turn off electrical appliances (TVs, computers, radios, etc.) when you are not using them or when you are away, as this can save up to 6% of your total electricity consumption on an annual basis.
Replacing leaking seals, old toilet cisterns, and turning off the tap when you are not using it while washing dishes, brushing your teeth, shampooing, etc. can result in significant savings.
Use the biggest electricity consumers such as washing machines, dishwashers or irons during the lower tariff period (with dual-tariff meters), because during that time the price of electricity is up to 50% lower.
Don't forget the most important rule in saving energy - IF YOU DON'T NEED IT, DON'T USE IT. Significant savings in energy consumption can be achieved by small changes in habits and usage.
